DotNetNuke

Minimize

DotNetNuke is a content management system (CMS) for websites, easy to use and highly extensible, with lots of add on modules.

One of my customers made me use Joomla. After suffering with that for three years, I was not motivated to look into another CMS, especially since I had written my own Asp.net framework, which of course I loved (and want to port to DotNetNuke).

After peering at DotNetNuke for a year, I finally gave it a try and immediately saw how powerful and easy to use it was. Have been moving my customers' and my websites to it since.

Go to your website and logon as a Super User or Portal Administrator.

This presumes you have the default DotNetNuke portal template.

  1. Go to Admin, DotNetNuke Portal Site Settings and update your website information. Configure your Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics.
  2. On the home page, delete each of the modules on the page.
  3. Go to Admin, File Manager and delete all the files. While still in the file manager add the folder "image" under portal. Add the folder "page" under "image". Add the folder "_all" under page.
  4. In a graphics program, create a top banner with your website name. Go to Admin, Site Settings, Appearance, Logo. For file location select image/page/_all and upload the logo you created. Click update to save.
  5. Add bookmarking to the bottom of all your pages. Add a HTML module to the bottom of each page. After you add the module to the bottom pane. Go into the module's settings and select add module to every page. Add the bookmarking code to the module.
  6. Add google ads, if you want. Put up to three google ad components on each page. Go to www.google.com/adsense and create the ad modules that you want. On your DNN website, add an HTML module to your page and copy in the google adsense code. Go into the module's settings and add the module to every page, if you like.
